Can you work with my budget?
Yes, and we wish more people would ask. Tell us your budget instead of walking away, and we'll work hard to get you there. Just compare quotes apples to apples. A lower price often isn't the same value.
How long does the whole process take?
We template once your cabinets are in and level. After you approve the details and layout, fabrication to install runs 5 to 10 business days, depending on the material and complexity.
When should I order if I want the kitchen ready for the holidays?
Give yourself runway. Countertops are about a two-week step from template to install, and they go in near the end, so the holiday rush is really about timing the whole project. Start early and you'll be ready. We'll hold up our end.
Where will the seams go, and will I see them?
Most kitchens need at least one, and we won't promise it's invisible. What we promise is control: we show you exactly where it lands in SlabSmith, and you approve before we cut. A well-planned seam can nearly disappear.
Do you remove my old countertops?
Yes. Removal and disposal are available as an add-on service. Just let us know and we'll include it in your quote.
Can I see the actual slab before you cut it?
Yes, and you should. No photo or video does a slab justice. The depth and movement only read in person. Walk the warehouse, hand-pick the exact slab for your kitchen, and that's the one we install.
Which material is best for a busy family kitchen?
Quartzite and granite handle a working kitchen without much thought. Quartz is the easiest of all, since it never needs sealing. Marble is beautiful but it will patina, and you have to be at peace with that.
What's the difference between quartz and quartzite?
Quartz is engineered: ground stone bound with resin. Quartzite is natural stone, quarried in slabs. Both are hard. They look and feel different, and they behave differently around heat.
Do I need to seal my countertops?
Most natural stone does, though some dense ones barely need it. Quartz and porcelain never do. And there's no schedule to follow: the water test tells you. When water stops beading and starts soaking in, it's time. We seal every natural stone at install to start you off.
Do you install sinks and faucets?
Sinks, yes. We cut the opening and mount undermount sinks in place. We also drill the faucet holes. The plumbing connections themselves need a plumber, that's not our trade.
What edge profiles do you offer?
Eased, beveled, bullnose, ogee, mitered, and more. Come see samples of each in the showroom, since they read very differently in person.
What areas do you serve?
MetroWest and Greater Boston primarily, and all of Massachusetts. For the right project we'll travel just about anywhere in New England.
