a few fun facts about Concord, MA
Only 20 miles from Boston lies a picturesque town of Concord. Its residents are proud of their town’s impressive history, its beautiful nature and handsome residences. Concord is the first settlement incorporated in Massachusetts. Its name is meant to signify agreement and harmony. Concord is often called the birth place of the nation referring to its significant role in the Revolutionary war. On April 19, 1775, Paul Revere famously set out to warn the residents of Concord that the British were coming. He was stopped by the red coats before he reached his destination. The message was delivered by a Concord citizen Doctor Samuel Prescott.
Concord has long been home to many outstanding artists, musicians, and writers. In the mid-1900s, it housed a prominent literary society members of which were Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Louisa May Alcott’s famous novel Little Women was written here.
Modern Concord is a vibrant town with an affluent residential community. Besides being one of the major tourist destination in the Boston area, Concord is also is notable maintaining its strong tradition of literary communities and for its progressive environmentally-conscious politics. It was the first town in the United State to ban single-serving plastic PET bottles.
